TV, eh? podcast episode 133 - "Sleek and Visually Tantalizing"

No rants this week (mostly), just civil discussion about Kirstine Stewart's surprise move from CBC to Twitter, Murdoch Mysteries and Dragons' Den topping the Canadian series ratings, CTV's Satisfaction starting production with the blandest possible media release, Continuum launching a Vine-based fan engagement initiative that Diane likes (Anthony, not as much), another bad reality show idea pitched via the media, opinion pieces on how Canadian TV's not so bad - and in fact produces excellence - and Kate Taylor's article on the Bomb Girls' cancellation that (gasp) goes beyond the media release.

Beverage update: Talking Rain coconut pineapple sparkling water, Barefoot sweet red wine, David's Tea mint chocolate rooibos, and a shot of McDonald's mango pineapple smoothie.

TV, eh? podcast episode 132 - "A Modest Reprisal"

The Writers Guild of Canada announced their award winners (but I bet they didn't use a kazoo when they did), Bomb Girls is cancelled, Package Deal gets a premiere date, Big Brother Canada breaks records, the Canadian Screen Awards are looking for a nickname, the Canadian TV funding model is blamed for a lack of hit shows, Murdoch Mysteries and Degrassi are on a top 50 list, Rachel looks into the transmedia-ing of Canadian TV, and Diane rants about how Canadian networks can get Canadian audiences to watch Canadian TV (hint: it's not the audience who's the problem).

TV, eh? podcast episode 131 - "Gripping & Thrilling"

Diane and Anthony talk about the male leads of Bitten, the premiere of Panic Button, the addition of Alfre Woodard to the cast of Copper, the September season 2 premiere of Highway thru Hell, the Canada Does Not Exist trope, the Canadian specialty channels' lack of specialness, and what the Arctic Air season finale says about (shudder) transmedia.

TV, eh? podcast episode 130 - "A Five-Fecta Bevy of Heavy"

CBC announced its safe 2013-14 schedule and Diane and Anthony are less than impressed (Anthony's more impressed by the Gordie Howe movie). Never Ever Do This At Home premieres May 6, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell is in production, Vikings and Match Game were picked up for a second season, Storage Wars Canada is coming to OLN, Jonathan Torrens celebrates 25 years in Canadian TV, and the way we're watching TV is changing thanks to HBO and Aereo. Then, we get into the rage think piece of the week, more ranting on the Canadian media industry's latest attempt to pat themselves on the back. And then Diane needed even more to drink.

TV, eh? podcast episode 129 - "Wonktacular"

Special guest Kelly Lynne Ashton - wonk extraordinaire - joins us for this special episode of the TV, eh? podcast. Special because we pick her brain on all things CanCon related and get answers to our burning questions on what exactly makes a show Canadian - The Borgias anyone? - how many teeth the CRTC has and many other things that raise Diane and Anthony's collective blood pressure.

Also special because after that interview the rest of the podcast didn't record, so we (mostly Anthony) power through the news of the week. Again. News such as Orphan Black's ratings, The Borgias' return, Motive's web series, Sanctuary's syndication, Cracked's sales, and Syfy's Continuum season 2 pickup. Also Diane made a passionate rant about something that is lost to the technical gremlins but we promise to try again next week.
